Radial headsail boom fitting - large

Traditional style radial headsail boom fitting. Suitable for use on 6 Metre & A Class. Boom end fitting for 12 mm or 14 mm, compression strut connection for 12 mm, 14 mm or any diameter booms. Ball raced axis for gooseneck.

Supplied in kit form to permit more compact packaging. Simple to assemble for anyone with average Lego/Meccano skills. Designed to be attached to the deck in a fixed position using four self tapping screws. The foredeck needs to be sufficiently rigid where the fitting will be added so that it does not flex in operation. The axis of the gooseneck can be aligned transversely to match the axis of the mast. The axis of the gooseneck can be raked independently to match the axis of the forestay using a third strut. The fourth strut acts as the compression strut for the headsail boom. An attachment point for the forestay is provided.

80 mm maximum width.

The alternative version for use with a 12 mm Ø luff rod - intended for use on free sailing A Class - uses heavier bearings. The luff rod may be removed from the unit when a headsail is changed. Or it may be permanently located in the unit - for example if the luff rod is telescopic.

Replacement bearings for the rc version - choose BF-011 from the SPARES section of this website.
