Transmitter cover - kit

Quick Overview

Transmitter cover - kit . A kit of parts to make a transparent plastic bubble that will protect your transmitter safely in the worst downpour.

As with all kits of parts some work is required to complete to a finished state - manual skills are necessary as well as commonly available hand tools. See notes below for more details.

The bubble concept is far superior to any zip up fabric case because it avoids water passing from wet hands to the fabric and then on to the transmitter. And the bubble can be placed on the ground without surface water getting into the interior.

When not in use the lower part fits inside the upper part to save space.

Details

A kit of parts to make a transparent plastic bubble that will protect your transmitter safely in the worst downpour. Designed to support the transmitter and allow free movement of the hands while protecting from the rain.

As with all kits of parts some work is required to complete to a finished state - manual skills are necessary as well as commonly available hand tools. The outer perimeter needs trimming - we recommend robust scissors for this task. The hand openings need to be cut out - we recommend finger nail scissors with curved blades for this task. You may prefer to add a protective trim to the edges of the hand openings - deck patch material wrapped over the edge may be used - there are also special edge trims available at hardware/DIY stores. Velcro is added to the mating edges of the cover and also to the inside of the cover and the transmitter.

The cover avoids the problem of water from the hands transferring to the inside of a fabric cover which then transfers the water to the transmitter. The two parts pack together neatly when not in use.

NB - Even though it weighs less than 500 grams it is always expensive to send this product because of the size/volume of the box in which it has to be packed. However, because they nest into each other, several transmitter covers can be packed in the same size box. Explore the possibility of having two or more sent at the same time to reduce the cost of carriage.

Better still, ask if one can be taken to one of the more major UK events.
