Spreader kit

Quick Overview

Spreader kit with faired section spreaders.

Choose from 50 mm, 75 mm or 100 mm length spreader bars to suit your application.

Generally the length of the spreader bar will be about 60% of the distance between the mast and the shroud attachment at the deck. This makes the 50 mm size ideal for most of the narrower generation of IOM class.

The 75 mm length will suit most M, 10R and 6M class.

Spreader kit with faired section spreaders.

Choose from 50 mm, 75 mm or 100 mm length spreader bars to suit your application. The spreader tips extend the rigging 4 mm past the end of the spreader bars so these will give shroud to shroud measurements of 119, 169 or 219 mm respectively for a 11 mm diameter mast. The joint piece that passes though the mast is 50 mm of 1.5 mm diameter stainless steel wire. It is normally fixed into one of the spreader bars rather than into the mast.

To add these spreaders to existing shrouds it is necessary to adapt the method of attachment between shroud and spreader end - use split pins ref. SP-1.4-20 for this purpose.

Generally the length of the spreader bar will be about 60% of the distance between the mast and the shroud attachment at the deck. This makes the 50 mm size ideal for most of the narrower generation of IOM class. The 75 mm length will suit most M, 10R and 6M class.

The SAILSetc spreader sets based on a mast band that holds the spreader bars firmly at the chosen attitude can be found at ref. 20SP.

The one piece SAILSetc spreader sets for IOM, M, 10R, 6M and A Class and similar boats can be found at ref. 21-AERO.

The faired section spreaders reduce the windage of the rig significantly compared to spreaders of round section and comparable stiffness. Spreader drag is reduced by approximately 90%.
