Luff tape - 18, 30 or 40 mm. Polyester headsail luff tape, 18, 30 or 40 mm wide. White only. The wider tapes are useful for forming the luff of pocket luff mainsails. For coloured tapes please see ref. TP-18.

Follow the steps shown in the thumbnail views to add 18 mm tape to the luff of a sail to make a small pocket for a forestay or jackline/jackstay. The same method is used to add a 30 or 40 mm tape to the luff of a pocket luff mainsail.

Place the sail on a firm flat surface. Use tape to stretch the luff slightly and keep the sail in place.

Add 6 mm wide double sided tape along the edge, ref. TS-06

   Peel off the protective backing.

place the luff tape along the luff taking care to align the edge with the edge of the doublesided tape.

Turn the sail over and tape the sail down to the surface.

Add 6 mm wide double sided tape along the edge. Do not peel off the backing paper.

Fold over the luff tape making sure you align the edges and make a firm crease along the fold.

   Peel off the backing paper.

Lightly fold over the luff tape. If there is misalignment you will be able to lift it off the double sided tape if it has not been pressed down hard. When you are satisfied with the fold rub down hard along the tape.
