Headsail boom forward end - SAILSetc spar. For the forward end of a SAILSetc spar section boom.

The fitting is a press fit into the boom spar. A 2 mm hole provides attachment for the counterbalance weight and a transverse hole provides attachment for the forestay.

Extra security for the counterbalance fitting can be provided by drilling a 1.8 mm hole from the underside of the boom through the 101D fitting and fitting a M2 x 8 mm screw.

The version with an angled hole for the counterbalance weight shaft means the shaft does not need to be bent to avoid fouling the foredeck. This makes it unlikely to be turned round in a collision and thereby avoids the possibility of it fouling the deck and preventing the headsail boom from working properly.
