Sheet/forestay attachment

Sheet/forestay attachment. Stainless steel with a 3.3 mm Ø hole for the sheet suitable for use with zed hook ref. 87Z. Use where high loads will occur such as sheet attachment point and forestay attachment point.

The hole for the sheet is mechanically de-burred to ensure the sheet does not abrade or chafe. The item is then tumbled in abrasive medium to remove all external sharp edges and give a satin finish. The profile shape is designed to minimise the chance of snagging.

The part is designed to be a push fit onto the boom tube. If it is too slack, use pliers or a vice to gently squash the hole to an elliptical shape until the grip is good. If the grip is too tight use a small round file to remove some material from the inside of the part until it is a good fit. When you are sure the part is properly positioned on the rig and aligned symmetrically, use a spot of cyanoacrylate glue to lock in place.

Note that the use with a swivel for the forestay attachment on the mast is NOT permitted in the IOM class.

For lower loads consider using the lighter and more economical 48-xxx equivalent.

Where you need to make a neat attachment for the forestay to a boom consider using item 106-xxx instead. Alternatively use SAILSetc product ref. 108 to provide an adjustable forestay attachment.
